The start of the year is the ideal time to hit reset

After a turbulent and somewhat unpleasant 2020, we have stepped into the new year with positive wishes. It is a year we are entering with the positive energy of mutual support and helping one another, which has proved to be something good to come out of the past year. The wisdom of living is, and always has been, in finding calm in the midst of chaos.

And since experts recommend that, for physical and mental health, you need to hit reset from time to time, you could certainly use this turn of the year and the quiet of the winter period to your advantage. We have already written about how important it is to take rest seriously. Bring your body into balance, slow down the pace of life, enjoy the fresh air and walk a lot, while strengthening your lung capacity with breathing techniques (which has proved extremely important for our health), make plans for the new year, contemplate and meditate. It is not too late to make (or become aware of) good New Year’s resolutions and invite positive energy into this year.

Hitting reset to empty and clean out your metal circuitry, raise your personal energy level and increase

your tolerance to stress and tension is not just desirable but essential. And a return to nature is ideal for exactly that. They say it is actually like coming home. Nature offers four natural refuges that recharge us best: silence, calm, withdrawal into ourselves and simplicity (which applies to everything).

Our recommended RESET ritual:

1. SPA RITUALS: warm, fragrant baths and saunas will detoxify your whole body and lift your energy and spirit. Even a 10-minute anti-stress treatment consisting of a warm foot bath with scented salts and a few drops of essential oils will have the same effect. Be sure to try it! You can surely set aside 10 minutes.

2. DRY BODY BRUSHING is very effective at removing dead skin cells and renewing our entire body. It can remove as much as one kilogram of waste.

3. MASSAGE is always welcome for soothing the nerves and relaxing, stimulating circulation and the flow of energy, and clearing toxins and blockages.

4. A HEALTHY DIET IS HALF OF GOOD HEALTH, as the well-known saying goes. Fresh vegetable juices and spices such as ginger, pepper, turmeric or horseradish will effectively renew our body from the inside, like a kind of internal shower. If you start the day with the juice of half a lemon in a glass of lukewarm water, you will not only wake up beautifully but also stimulate the cleansing of your digestive system.

5. YOGA is the discipline that best balances body, mind and spirit at the same time. Some popular exercises, such as the “5 Tibetans” or the “Sun Salutation”, have the same effect. Just 5–10 minutes of (yoga) exercises will bring many physical benefits and develop stability of spirit.

6. MEDITATION is a technique for the self-development of awareness that you practise for 15 minutes, and it gives you much more time in return. With refreshed perception and improved attention and focus, you can carry out your daily tasks much more efficiently. It has been scientifically proven to lower cortisol levels while raising serotonin, and to reduce fear, tension and anxiety.

7. SPENDING TIME IN NATURE will tune your frequency to that of nature. Nothing calms the spirit as well as the pulse of nature! Walk for at least 30 minutes a day, and if you do breathing exercises (deep breathing) at the same time, you will also strengthen your lung capacity and ensure your cells get a full supply of oxygen. It will also reduce (high) blood pressure, anger and fatigue and increase the activity of the parasympathetic nervous system. Boosting your immunity by spending time in nature is just one of the many benefits you also gain.

8. For keeping A HEALTHY MIND IN A HEALTHY BODY we also have the power of positive thinking to thank!

Negative thoughts can lead to various disorders in the body (stomach acid is one of them). It is believed that 17 seconds of positive thinking is enough to create an unbroken loop of positive thoughts that build on one another. Gratitude certainly encourages the flow of positive thoughts. So take a moment to think about (and remind yourself of) what you are grateful for today.

9. MAKE A HOLIDAY AND TRAVEL PLAN FOR 2021 and make your bookings at the start of the year, because planning a holiday has just as positive an effect on our spirit as the holiday itself. The situation we find ourselves in, having to spend more time at home and in front of computers, will be easier to bear when you know that a booked holiday awaits you soon.

At Camping Plitvice, luxury 5-star mobile homes await you, each with its own separate entrance and its own spacious terrace, and safety and hygiene have always been our top priority. And to keep your travel planning relaxed, we offer flexible booking (this also applies to the refund of the deposit).

Let the start of the new year be your positive start and the most beautiful period of the year.

Wellness is one of the fastest-growing industries, and wellness tourism, as part of health tourism, is an increasingly sought-after combination of travel, rest and care for the health of body, mind and spirit. The forerunners of health tourism were the Roman baths and spas, which is why saunas and spa treatments are often an integral part of what wellness tourism offers.
