“Winter is not a season, it’s a celebration.” – Anamika Mishra. Evergreen trees, hot cocoa, a fire in the fireplace, holly, warm boots, a scarf and gloves, winter sleep… these are all associations that connect us with winter.

Besides winter being the time of the best holidays of the year, as soon as the first winter breeze blows through the trees, it brings a certain magic to the air and, together with nature in its winter sleep, stops time just for us. It is natural for nature to rest in winter, so it is also natural that this is when our holiday takes on its deepest meaning. To be a true rest!
Whether you are on a winter holiday, the winter school break or a winter weekend break, with us you will feel the benefits of a healing stay in the fresh air and the idyllic scenes of the sleeping nature of Plitvice and the Plitvice Lakes. The portal Dailymail.co.uk writes that medical experts have found that the sun’s rays breaking through in the depths of the coldest season can bring significant health benefits – from raising vitamin D levels to beating the winter blues. And it is precisely by spending time in nature in winter that you can strengthen your immunity and gain many more benefits.
We know many more reasons to embrace winter and join us, and below you can see the five we have picked out:
EMBRACE THE COLD BY AN OPEN-AIR FIRE
The real magic happens when, with the fresh air and the snow-covered landscapes that surround our campsite, you light an open-air fire (which you can do in our barbecue area) and spend the evening with a hot drink and good company. Don’t worry, our Deluxe and Premium mobile homes will spoil you with heated rooms, spacious bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and a living room, just like at home.
AWAKEN THE CHILD WITHIN
Children look forward to the winter idyll most of all; they need a break too, since they spend most of the year sitting at school desks, so it is good to add physical activity and more time with friends to their schedule. Follow their example and don’t let the cold weather hold you back – join in their fun on an unforgettable winter trip and explore the wintry surroundings of Camping Plitvice.
At reception you can arrange to hire wooden sledges or snow saucers. And within a radius of about 10 kilometres of the campsite, we also recommend a visit to Plitvice Lakes National Park for just €10, Speleon, where you can see fossil remains of Ice Age animals, or the Mukinje ski slope, which is open when natural conditions allow.
BEAT THE WINTER BLUES
An invigorating winter holiday can help combat seasonal affective disorder, when the days are generally shorter and the nights longer. Spending more time outdoors and in daylight will raise your serotonin levels and lift your mood.
ENJOY LOCAL SPECIALITIES THAT WARM BODY AND SOUL
The Plitvice region is known for traditional dishes such as lička basa, ličke police, goulash and sarma, warm strudels and rolled pastries… You will find all of this on the menus of restaurants just a few kilometres from Camping Plitvice. We recommend Lička kuća restaurant which looks like an ethnographic museum and, like a stage set, takes you on a journey back to childhood and our grandmothers’ kitchens.
SAVE WHILE YOU RELAX
Taking your holiday outside the main season is certainly cheaper. With us you can also take advantage of exclusive off-season packages and extra perks, and if you are a member of our Loyalty Club you also get extra discounts. The more often you come, the more you save!
Treat your loved ones to a stay at Camping Plitvice too – for that purpose we have prepared a GIFT VOUCHER in the form of a gift card which you can now buy at a lower price to treat yourself or someone else for next season.
More information for a winter stay at Camping Plitvice
Camping Plitvice has WiFi coverage across the whole resort and is in a location with excellent transport links. During the winter period, too, we are open for all individual and group visits, such as team building and MICE events, fairytale winter weddings, gala dinners, women’s weekends or yoga retreats.
A shared common room is available in the conference hall, where cartoons are shown during the day and Christmas films in the evening.
Every mobile home has its own coffee machine and a wide selection of coffees and teas, and breakfast can also be delivered to your mobile home (although the restaurant is officially closed to visitors). This way you can enjoy the most important meal of the day at your leisure, with a choice of homemade bread, eggs, ham, cheese, spreads, jams or porridge bowls.
Self-service machines with basic food and toiletries are available at the campsite, the nearest shop is just one kilometre away, and the Plitvice mall shopping centre is four kilometres away.
The campsite is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (24 and 25 December) and on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day (31 January and 1 January)
