The area is home to as many as three of Croatia’s eight national parks. And especially in winter, Lika is the ideal backdrop for true festive activities.

It is also an ideal destination for enjoying fine festive and local food, as this is, after all, the season of parties – Christmas, business, family and even anniversary ones. And for everyone who wants to step outside the usual framework – why not organise a fairy-tale winter wedding in this region?!

At the 15th Croatian Camping Congress in early December, organised by the Croatian Camping Union with its partners – the Ministry of Tourism and the Croatian National Tourist Board – Camping Plitvice received the award for the best campsite in Croatia for 2021 and 2022.

What you will find at Camping Plitvice this festive season
Although Camping Plitvice does not organise group celebrations during Advent or for New Year’s Eve, they are possible as private events – in the restaurant, by the pool bar (with outdoor heaters) or in the conference hall (a party with a projector, screen and sound system).
As luxury five-star accommodation in 17 PREMIUM and DELUXE mobile homes is available all year round, the party can carry on into the night at a relaxed pace. Each mobile home has two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room, plus a separate entrance and a spacious terrace. You also have all the comforts of modern accommodation: fast internet and TV in every mobile home, a full service including laundry and ironing, a washing machine and tumble dryer, room service and free parking.
Festive food and drink
As no gathering is complete without good food, you can choose from several options we organise for you – snacks and canapés, a buffet or an à la carte three-course dinner, and you can also book a cooking show – cooking in front of your guests.
RESTAURANT
The Camping Plitvice restaurant is open all year round, although in winter it only opens at weekends or on special dates such as holidays. And if you would rather have a more intimate get-together, we offer room service – meals delivered straight to your mobile home (available all week).
Warming up with mulled wine, homemade rakija of all kinds – the best known being Lička šljivovica – or a cup of hot tea, and with traditional Lika cakes such as Plitvice strudel, fritters and strudels in various flavours – you can now do it all in one place. Dishes such as sarma with mashed potatoes, or pork knuckle with braised cabbage and boiled potatoes, are well-known Lika specialities, and food that warms us from the inside when temperatures outside are low.
FAMILY FARMS AND LOCAL TASTING ROOMS
You can arrange visits to local family farms and taste Lika delicacies made from local produce, such as homemade honey, cheese, dried fruit and freshly prepared drinks from local producers. Winter fun within a radius of just 10 kilometres

And while you spend time at Camping Plitvice, it’s good to know that we are a pet-friendly campsite, while for children there is a daytime kids’ lounge and a PlayStation game room.
WINTER WEDDINGS – yes or no?
All the charms of Advent – from a richly laden table, snowflakes, all kinds of decorations (pine cones, mistletoe and red berries, golden details, fur) and the scent of apple, cinnamon and anise in the air, to delicious, fragrant drinks link (cocktails, punch, mulled wine or hot chocolate) – can now enrich your big day too. Compared with summer weddings, winter ones are organised less often, but they have a fairy-tale charm that belongs to this time of year alone. And that makes it unique for your wedding. A wedding at this time of year will also certainly save you some money thanks to post-season prices, and some nerves too, as it is far less crowded than in the summer season.
The fairy-tale backdrop of the (snow-covered) Lika region, and above all the beautiful waterfalls and cascading lakes of the “Plitvice Lakes” national park, is in itself ideal for a fairy-tale winter wedding in wintertime. But nature here is also rich in history, so the old walls or tower of Drežnik Grad will also make ideal backdrops for photographing the bride and groom.
Everything else you need to organise a wedding is available within a very short distance of Camping Plitvice – the registry office and the recently renovated Church of St John the Baptist are in the village of Smoljanac itself. You can also book a private transfer to Camping Plitvice in a Mercedes saloon, organised by the PERMANSIO agency (which also provides transport for Hotel Esplanade), and even a horse-drawn carriage ride through the Lika region.
