See you in September, October, November too…. We have already written about why it is important to take rest seriously, but how important is it to rest at all? And when? Most of you probably carefully “save” your holiday for the summer days of July and August (because the days are longer than the nights then), but have you ever thought about how you could get more benefits precisely in the off-season.

Summer may not be over yet (and there’s even an expression for that – an Indian summer), and holiday time definitely isn’t.
And while psychologists still debate whether it is better for a holiday to last two weeks or three – one thing is certain. The more holidays we have throughout the year, the better our physical and mental health will function. The well-known psychiatrist Gruden also claims that several shorter holidays throughout the year allow for much better recharging of the batteries and greater efficiency at work. One British study went a step further, claiming that for better focus at work and to avoid burnout, it is best to take a short holiday every two to three months. And the latest movement popular among millennials, the so-called micro-cation is a type of holiday you can enjoy all year round, even in the off-season.
Just imagine late summer or early autumn in unspoilt nature, just like the nature Camping Plitvice has as far as the eye can see. Plitvice Lakes National Park is only 3 km from the campsite and is known to be equally fascinating in all four seasons.
If we haven’t yet convinced you that you don’t have to say goodbye to the carefree summer holiday feeling in September (or even October, November…), here are 5 more reasons:
- Fewer crowds also means less stress.
No queuing, no crowds in restaurants or in traffic while you drive to your chosen holiday spot. You have the beach or the excursion spot all to yourself (or at least share it with only a few others). And the swimming season isn’t over yet, not even at Camping Plitvice. Our two pools next to the restaurant terrace are there for you to enjoy, even with breakfast or an afternoon coffee and the newspaper.
- A wider choice of services and products (because there are no crowds).
Besides much greater availability of facilities, services and products, you have a wider choice of places to visit. So you can also relax and plan at a more leisurely pace.
- Off-season prices are much more favourable.
Not only do you save money if you go on holiday in September, you can also get more for the same amount of money. Transport tickets cost less, food is cheaper, and many accommodation providers are already 20% cheaper during this period. At Camping Plitvice you can get as much as 40–50% off accommodation.
- The temperatures are more pleasant.
Thanks to the extended summer days in September, and even October, you will be able to enjoy real summer during the day, while spending the mornings and evenings in autumn mode. We would add just one more important detail – there are no longer as many mosquitoes and other insects.
- You keep your enthusiasm high.
You certainly avoid the stress or depression that comes with returning from holiday, because you are actually (only just) going on holiday, or, thanks to more frequent breaks, you are always looking forward to the next one. This also makes it possible to maintain high productivity at work at the same time.
We could say that, in fact, all the benefits of a holiday in September (or the off-season) have a lot in common with the philosophy of so-called slow travel that we have already written about.
If you decide to spend your holiday at Camping Plitvice, these are the extra bonuses waiting for you:
- its strategic position in central Croatia makes this place ideal for a weekend getaway, as it is equally close for those coming from Zagreb (or northern Croatia) and those coming from the coastal areas;
- nature that heals and recharges;
- outdoor sports grounds where you can easily keep the necessary distance while enjoying exercise, or develop a positive exercise habit that lasts beyond your holiday;
- accommodation in two-room 5-star mobile homes, so you actually have the option of extra space for yourself if you choose to work “from home” or attend “online classes” (with free use of fast internet and TV);
- authentic local ethno-gastronomic delights and hot 5-star meals delivered to your mobile home;
- walks in nature or awakening your adventurous spirit (horse riding, paragliding, canoeing along the Gacka river valley or quad biking through the Plitvice valley, and much more);
- peace of mind when it comes to looking after children or pets, thanks to the nearby children’s playgrounds and pet-free zones (you will be able to keep an eye on them at all times);
- top-level disinfection and hygiene measures to protect your health and ours.
Just imagine your holiday starting only in September? Oh yes, it’s absolutely possible!
