Our guests included well-known faces, families, nature lovers and travellers who wanted to pause and rediscover the magic of Lika and the Plitvice Lakes.
What always makes us happy is that guests don’t leave empty-handed. Besides memories, they often take home something even more important: a sense of peace, a slower rhythm and the reset that nature brings. We know this because they told us. At a time when we are always available, connected 24/7 and under pressure from information on all sides, more and more of us are looking for a chance to do a digital detox. In the forest, with fresh air and trees, here with us you can feel what it’s like to switch off and reconnect – with yourself and with nature.
And when the time comes to return to everyday life, it isn’t always easy. That’s why we’ve also put together a few tips on how to ease back into your routine – or, even better, how you can always find your peace again and come back to us whenever you need it.
Six years together: our birthday celebration
This summer had a special sparkle for us because we celebrated Camping Plitvice’s 6th birthday! From the first challenges when we opened during lockdown right up to today, we have created a place guests return to again and again – some have become like friends and family.
At the birthday celebration, which was full of joy and laughter, we had an outdoor barbecue, a special musical treat with Emir and Mirza Tetarić and the Soul Shadows collective, cinema under the starry sky, various pool competitions and carriage rides through the campsite.
We were especially pleased that some guests celebrated their own birthdays with us, like Sandra, with the scents of the forest, the pool and lots of laughter. “It’s unbelievably beautiful here,” many commented, and that is the best proof that nature here creates an experience beyond words.
What our guests said
La Masha (Maria Grigoryan Vučković), journalist and content creator, and a long-time friend of Camping Plitvice who comes back to us every year:
“We come to Camping Plitvice every year, and this year it’s especially lovely and comfortable here, because there are new high-tech mobile homes!”
Dajana Tepšić, PR consultant, event manager and lifestyle content creator, known for discovering hidden places and destinations that combine nature and comfort:
“Camping Plitvice won us over at first sight – peace, nature and modern comfort in perfect balance. The ideal place to escape everyday life and recharge your batteries in the green embrace of Lika.”
Ivana from “Mala od lavande”, a Croatian brand of organic and natural cosmetics:
“Here your shoulders drop and your heart slows down a little. You didn’t come looking for answers, but you find them anyway – in the peace, the silence, the rhythm of nature.”
All our guests can enjoy the wide range of facilities at our campsite: a pool, a multi-purpose sports ground with a CrossFit zone, a children’s playground and a barbecue area – everything you need for an active or relaxing holiday. A special hit this summer was the open-air cinema – with free entry and popcorn. It’s that special moment when film, stars and nature come together in a unique experience to remember.
Digital pressure and overload – why do we need off mode from time to time?
Today we live in a time of constant 24/7 connectivity. We are available to work, friends, notifications and messages. Information floods in from every direction, and it’s no wonder that more and more people feel digital fatigue. Still, switching off technology completely is not a realistic option for most. What we can do is press the pause button now and then. Why does this matter? Well, first of all, for balanced circadian rhythms.
Circadian rhythms – the science of why a good night’s sleep matters
Scientific research shows that exposure to natural light during the day supports our circadian rhythms – the natural cycle of sleeping and waking. Too much blue light from screens, especially in the evening, disrupts melatonin production and causes insomnia, restlessness and fatigue. It isn’t only the brain that suffers – the body sends signals such as eye strain, neck pain or exhaustion.
That is exactly why time in nature, with daylight, fresh air and natural rhythms, works like a reset for the whole body.
How to ease back into your routine
Coming back from holiday can often be a shock, but there are tricks that help make the transition gentle and easy.
- Introduce small rituals: morning coffee on the terrace, a walk after work, reading in the evening.
- Don’t rush: allow yourself to ease into the rhythm of everyday life gradually.
- Nature in everyday life: a park, a forest or at least a plant in the office will remind you of the peace of your holiday (with us).
- Stay active: gentle yoga, cycling or swimming help you keep the energy from your holiday.
- Plan your next escape: the very thought of a weekend trip brings back a smile to your face and a flutter to your heart.
Summer isn’t over yet
Many guests tell us: “I have to stop at Plitvice, I haven’t been since I was a child…” That’s exactly what makes it special – this region brings back memories of childhood, carefree days and happiness.
So, even though the calendar says otherwise, summer isn’t over yet. And you can still extend it at Camping Plitvice at affordable booking prices. Because summer lasts as long as we give it room in our hearts.
