Camping basics
While in Croatia June usually marks the start of outdoor summer gatherings, from concerts to festivals, in America it is even celebrated as a whole month of camping and outdoor activities. A great way – or, we would say, an excuse, if we need one at all for something like this – to spend more time in nature. Reconnecting with nature and finding the much-desired inner peace in these fast-paced times, which can be found so easily in nature, allows us to reconnect with ourselves. This healthy lifestyle is, of course, also great for children, and for their learning about the environment, as well as about the importance of spending time and playing outdoors.
There is a camping saying: “Pack your life with good memories”, so start packing memory after memory this very summer.
Almost 90% of campsites in Croatia are located along our beautiful coast, by the sea and stunning beaches, while the rest are located near equally beautiful natural destinations surrounded by greenery and lakes. Our Camping Plitvice is one of these.
And the fact that around 60 million Europeans spend their holidays camping confirms that camping today is no longer tied only to a limited budget and a “basic” holiday. There are various options for comfortable accommodation, from pitches for a motorhome or caravan, tent pitches for putting up a tent, while for those who want more luxury there are mobile homes with a terrace and 5 stars.
So the first thing to do before you go camping is to think about the destination and the type of camping. The camping regulations in force in Croatia state that you must never camp in an unmarked place, especially not on beaches, in the mountains or in the forest, but only in a properly marked place in a campsite (a pitch). Second, before arriving at most campsites, you need to book a pitch in advance. You can find the range and map of pitches at Camping Plitvice here.
Third, before arriving at the destination itself, find out when you can check in, as well as the other house rules of the campsite, and be sure to plan to arrive in daylight so that you can settle in and set up your camping equipment at a relaxed pace. One of the many advantages of Camping Plitvice is that we are open 24 hours a day. Of course, as part of the house rules, consideration for your neighbours is important, so loud noise at night is prohibited in all campsites, and in summer lighting open fires is also prohibited because of the risk of fire.
For everything about the house rules, see our page. (link)
Campsites offer many free and interesting facilities, which also makes it easier for you to organise activities during your holiday. At Camping Plitvice there is free Wi-Fi for all accommodation units, access to the sanitary block, a well-equipped playground for various sports, a fitness zone, use of the large and small pools, a playroom for the youngest, and we have not forgotten four-legged friends either, or the motorhome service point, along with plenty of other benefits.
Now that we have introduced you to the basics of planning your first camping trip, or one of many, in the next article we will tell you which are the 10 most important things every camper must have. Just as people believe in love at first sight, we could also say there is love at first camping trip. Many people fall in love with this kind of active holiday straight away precisely because of the great freedom in planning their time and locations. And, of course, because of packing beautiful memories (from their travels).
