World Environment Day is celebrated on 5th June every year with the aim of raising awareness about climate change and preserving the environment, wildlife but also our health. The latter, no less important than all the above, has been increasingly deteriorating in recent years. We are witnessing this phenomenon this year perhaps more than ever. It is estimated that 7 million people die each year from air pollution alone, and the number of people with respiratory diseases, asthma and allergies is constantly growing.
Many celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Jane Fonda, Gisele Bündchen and Al Gore promote preservation of the environment and encourage environmental awareness. Each of us can act locally and have a global impact. We believe that anyone can sustainably manage natural resources through the zero waste principle of living and here’s how to do it:
1. REFUSE everything that creates excess waste, simplify life, use only what you really need.
2. REDUCE waste and think about how to consume less of the products you already use.
3. REUSE anything that can be reused.
4. RECYCLE if you cannot do any of the above.
5. ROT by separating biowaste and using it as a soil fertilizer.
You can apply the Zero Waste concept of living anytime and anywhere – in the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, outdoor activities.
Cook only as much as you will eat so that you do not have to throw away leftover food because this is how you will reduce 45% of the waste that comes from the average household.
Always carry meals to go, drinking water, and even coffee in your containers, and use containers made from materials that last longer or decompose quickly (canvas bags, bioplastics, glass containers, stainless steel, bamboo).
Replace various cleaning or cosmetic products with a universal one or even better, make your own from natural ingredients.
Take a walk or ride a bike instead of driving a car every day. In our Camping Plitvice you can find electric bicycles to explore the natural oasis we are surrounded by.
We are part of nature and nature is part of us. Therefore, today is the perfect opportunity to go out in nature and enjoy its riches.
